Eclipses are not just singular, they are a season of change with a distinct beginning and an often all too clear end point that resonates, sometimes for months to come. Our lunar eclipse only two weeks ago was the fabled blood moon. This was an appropriately storm swept kick-off in my part of the world and heralded the start of a period of immense shifts.

If you thought this craaaazy eclipse energy was now going to settle nicely in time for your sunny long weekend, may I suggest you take a seat for a moment and pour yourself a cup of something strong. Probably not too early for shots, it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere. We are in the period between eclipses now, which can be a little like the spin cycle on your washing machine.

Tomorrow night is the opposition of Mars, a celestial event that happens every two or so years when the red planet lines up with the sun and we on planet Earth are sandwiched in between.

What does this mean to us here on Earth? Mars is the masculine planet of action that rules both Aries and Scorpio. Mars can symbolise passion, drive, ambition, competition and war. Fiery, full blooded energy is the red planet's natural state. In ancient times, Mars was said to rule our sexuality and sexual energy and governs weapons, accidents and surgery. Currently Mars is retrograde which in astrology basically means don't start a fight and be wary of your enemies. Disregard any or all of the above at your own peril.

New moon in Aries is nearly here Bohemians and so it is that we have a supercharged opportunity to make a wish that will stick. Be mindful of your thoughts when you wake tomorrow and as always be careful what you wish for!

And so the wheel turns once more, Bohemians. Today is the astrological equivalent of New Year's Eve because at around 4am tomorrow morning Wollombi time, the sun wafts from the dreamy Piscean realm into the firebrand go getter energy of Aries. Tune in and you will feel the change when you wake in the morning.

All too often in our crazy busy overscheduled lives we rush from one thing to the next, darting from place to place and thing to thing like manic dragonflies. There are deadlines to meet and Stuff To Get Done. People depend on us, employ us, rely on us, can't get by without us (hello parenthood).

This weekend is a chance to wash the slate clean, after the delicious topsy turviness of the last two weeks.

We are again in the dark phase of the moon, a time of introspection, the kind you only get from being alone with your thoughts and the bright stars above.

Snake is a sign of transmutation, of change, of shedding your skin to reveal something new and wonderful. This change can manifest in our lives in much the same fashion as the snake sometimes appears to us – fearsome, unwelcome, unheralded. I don't know about you Bohemians but I love a good sign. For me, it's an affirmation, an indicator or sometimes a blatant message. Once you start noticing, turn your consciousness to the possibility and allow yourself to be guided by your intuition, you'll see signs all over the place.

Eclipse season happens in series every year and this is the first for 2013, with two more to come in May. Eclipses are always times of transformation – of beginnings and endings, when our cages are rattled and life seems to tip on its axis. What happens during an eclipse often sticks – whether that is a difficult conclusion or a delicious new beginning. One thing you can be sure of during eclipse season, things will change.

This is auspicious as it is the first New Moon of the astrological new year and resolutions made now are supercharged, setting the tone for the year ahead.
