Welcome To Your Underworld

Art: Incredible @light_witch

And so we tip and the wheel creaks around again. Samhain and the Scorpio full moon, Pluto and Lilith, mayhem and transformation.
Welcome to your underworld.

Samhain falls after the Autumn Equinox and before the Winter Solstice, traditionally marking the end of harvest and the descent into deep, dark Winter. The air is cooling here now and mists greet most mornings. The opposite turn to Beltane and the Great Rite in the North as high Sumner winks seductively.

Above all this hallowed eve is sacred to ancestors, honouring both their memory and their contribution to our lives. Set a place at your table this full moon for those who have passed during your lifetime, and especially this last year. On this one night according to ancient tradition, it is easier and more possible for spirit to enter our human world and for us to peer through the veils at their thinnest. From nightfall on this day for centuries past, offerings have been made around fires lit to sign post the location of their kindred in this world to those that have passed to the next. Travel well.

Ancient lore whispers of the witch’s new year, a time to begin anew and an auspicious day to commit to the longer term. In the throes of plutonic re-envisioning and more than the odd lifequake, with everything still in flux and the ground frequently shifting, as the bright lady shows her scorpion cape, best we live and let die. We cannot peer ahead if our present tethers us to an unholy past. Let it stay behind you now lest you cloud the path forward.

What will your next year and a day hold? Make space for the alchemy hidden just beyond rebirth and already at play. Peer through these wispy veils courageously. Hold fast to who and what you love. Count yourself and those whose blood runs in your veins amongst them. This is the true fulcrum of our life and the perfect place from which to start anew.
