If you're feeling an overwhelming urge right now to chuck your life and all its irritating little facets over the back of your head as you make a glorious getaway somewhere else, you are channelling the mood du jour.

I've been spending a lot of my time lately in the company of wise women. Elders who school me gently in the fine art of life, their hands soft on my back as I navigate mine. Mothers with work writtten on their faces and arms aching from the weight of all they choose to carry with a weary smile. Corporate wonderwomen who dazzle their field but still have to fight for it to be level.

These beauties came home with me last night after a delicious full mooner, direct from the altar. Honouring the Virgo moon I chose to focus meditation on the shadow side of this energy that can often wallop us by fuelling our inner critic. This in-house naysayer, whose oxygen is criticism and whose routine belittlement serves only to lower our head, tries to keep us safe by keeping us small.

The full moon in Virgo is nearly here and you can feel her blazing gaze building, as we simultaneously try to balance the energies at play. Life is feeling like a cocktail of Crazytown and high magic with a chaser of agitation and a twist of intrigue.

The amount of resistance our monkey mind throws up when our body and soul start to lean towards meditation is really quite something.

A great many of these blessings hinge on love and trust, acceptance and surrender to forces greater than ourselves. Personally I prefer to give the significant bullshit attached to this day in the modern world the bird and focus instead on honouring my she-wolf and showering her with the love and affection afforded to me to bestow. Bright blessings to your inner wolf this day. Long may she roam.

Who is this dark creature that lives inside us as a voice of caution and naysaying? Why it's as much a part of us as our capacity to dream and create, lurking side of stage and tangled in the curtains.

There is an art to a beautiful ending, a conclusion that reeks of grace and does not hide its face in pointless denial. An elegant farewell that bows low to what once was but shall not - and quite possibly should not - be again. A final goodbye properly done allows us to turn our face to the new and probably wonderful chapter ready to commence, without dragging the bloodied tendrils of the last one behind us.

Just let it go. How many times has that old chesnut been flung in our direction with a well meaning lob? By the time our stomach sinks we know it is truth and our mind madly scrambles to find a way around it. There is none. If something in your life is toxic and you know it deep down in your marrow, it is time to let it go. And the dark moon is the perfect time to do it, adding Lady Luna’s gentle breath out to your own deep sigh of recognition.

I find myself caught between worlds as my life transitions on new wings. Between my love of the quiet country life and the fresh excitement of the big busy city. Between solid old friends and the shiny new people I am crossing paths with daily now. Between my old familiar routine and the strange new path unfurling in front of my wide eyes.

A collection of natural treasures found this weekend in the forest. Big magic was made by truly wonderful friend of friends tucked under giant pine trees and surrounded by ferns. There is no greater ritual space than the wild unknown.

It is a rainy extra long void moon in Pisces, built for quiet time by the fire and dreamy escapism.

Oh deep delicious dark moon, here you are again already. Once la luna begins waning, cosmic forces take a deep breath in. This phase of the monthly moon cycle takes us back through from full incandescence to waning crescent to the balsamic phase.

The dark moon is the very best time there is to Let It Go, every single month in a row. This is my favourite spell to do so, and its as easy as collecting a hatful of leaves.
